Be and Be Heard
Psychotherapy and Counselling
"The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination"
As a person-centred psychotherapist and counsellor with 14 years of counselling experience, I offer a secure, welcoming and confidential space in which you can be understood and valued, and where you can begin to find your own way towards how you want to be. I will help you to reflect upon and explore your challenges whilst offering an independent, non-judgemental perspective.
I work in a person-centred way with adults with a broad range of experiences including relationship issues, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, phobias, anger management, family issues, addiction(s), separation/divorce, bereavement, eating disorders, abuse, low self-esteem, stress and low self-confidence. I also offer counselling supervision.
During this uncertain time and with the arrival of the Covid-19 virus, I am offering Skype/Facetime and telephone counselling.
Ordinarily, I practice from Manchester city centre in a location 2 minutes walk from Oxford Road train station and 15 minutes walk from Piccadilly station. I also practice from the town of Buxton in the Peak District National Park.
Additionally I offer outdoor therapy in New Mills in the High Peak (10 miles from Buxton, 5 miles from Glossop), at the heart of the Peak District / in the foothills of Kinder Scout.
My Training and Experience
I trained at The Sherwood Institute in Nottingham and hold a Masters research degree in Humanistic Person-Centred Psychotherapy. I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision and I also hold a BA (Hons) in Philosophy.
I have experience working with adults in a variety of settings and have focused experience working with adult carers and women experiencing distress and challenge. Alongside my private work, I have worked for Breast Cancer Care facilitating a support group for women living with secondary breast cancer and I have both lectured and tutored on the University of Salford's Counselling and Psychotherapy BSc and MSc courses.
I have a particular interest in the experience of 'endings' which may occur due to bereavement, unemployment, the ending of relationships and general life transitions. I welcome supporting clients through these processes.
I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist and a member of the BACP and as such adhere to associated codes of ethics.

I offer one to one therapy sessions for 50 minutes, usually weekly.

Congruent support and support to be congruent
I offer person-centred / humanistic supervision, one to one or in group. I trained with The Sherwood Institute (Nottingham) to 'Teaching Supervisor' level; I am qualified to take on students in training and can incorporate teaching aspects in any supervision I offer.
I use my broad range of counselling and psychotherapy experience in my supervisory practice and work with supervisees in a non-judgemental, holding and mutual way.
My fees are £58 per one hour session.
A different connection
I offer one to one Outdoor Therapy sessions at a location in New Mills in High Peak. This space offers formal paths and trails with a woodland aspect that allows for less formal exploration.
